OUR APPROACH

Wholesome Intimacy provides therapy from a holistic approach. Consistent with solid biblical teachings we take into consideration that our clients are multifaceted beings, comprising the spirit, soul, body and mind. We therefore recognize and respect the biological, emotional, physical, cultural and spiritual aspects as well as the unique personality factors that make up each individual, couple and family. We believe every individual was fashioned by God with an inbred desire for vertical relationship with Him and laterally with others. We all yearn for relationships in which we are loved, accepted and understood. Such quality relationships do not “just” happen. They required intentionality and purposeful engagement of individuals with honest, open and sincere hearts. We believe the wellness of an individual, a couple or a family hinges upon an individual’s ability to purely and authentically CONNECT with themselves, God and others.

Our Values

Prayer

We believe that prayer is an effective solution to situations that you find overwhelming. The bible encourages us to bring all of our cares to God who can give us wisdom, comfort and peace.

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” (Luke 18:1)

The Word Of God

We believe that the Word of God is effective in healing for the whole person—mind, soul and spirit. We believe it is effective in providing clarity for our problems and bringing healing and full integration to us and in our relationships.

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

“He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”(Psalm 107:20)

Godly Wisdom

We believe that God can provide us with wisdom to address any problem in life. God’s wisdom has no hidden agendas and is therefore trustworthy. It comes with many benefits that are transferrable to all of our relationships.

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)

Compassion

We believe that compassion are the foundational tenets of our therapeutic relationship. We realize that clients come to us with a great deal of vulnerability and concern from the pressures of life and in our relationships. Our response is to create a safe and meaningful collaboration to facilitate your progress of moving towards a healthy well-functioning place.

The LORD was moved with compassion by their groaning that had been caused by those who were oppressing and persecuting them.” Judges 2:18

Transformational Thinking

We believe that it is possible to think differently about your situation and to see positive results from such.

“…be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2)”

Connecting or Support Systems

We believe that God has appointed the family as the primary and most significant place for security and healing. We realize that while many of us are hurt in relationships it is also the place where healing must begin. Family extends beyond biological….into those relationships into our churches and community.

“God makes a home for the lonely;” (Psalm 68:6)

Education

We believe that knowledge is empowering. Our support groups, workshops and seminars are designed with simplicity to educate and to inspire fresh healthy perspectives and behaviors.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

Integrity and Truth

We believe that our highest standard of truth is alignment with the word of God that challenges us to inner truth and guides to truth through the agency of the Spirit of God. We also abide by the standards of honesty and integrity as in keeping with our professional code of ethics and regulations.

“Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.”(Psalm 51:6).

Christian Sex Therapy

Wholesome Intimacy provides a safe Christian environment for couples and individual to discuss their sexual issues with a professionally trained individual.

Christian Sex Therapy (CST) grants couples/individuals the opportunity to explore sexuality, enhance sexual pleasure and physical response and to resolve sexual conflicts. Couples can obtain effective relational skills that lead to sexual fulfillment and improved intimacy in their marriage.

CST also helps couples address issues of various sexual dysfunctions:
  • Low or excessive sexual desire
  • Difficulties maintaining or feeling aroused
  • Avoidance of sex
  • Painful sex
  • Anxiety related to sex

Our approach caters to both premarital and marital couples guiding, training and retraining in how to communicate healthy sexual and non-sexual behaviors.

Group Therapy

Relationships can hurt us! Relationships can heal us! It is through our connection with people that pain can result and it is through connection with healthy people God can bring healing.

Therapeutic and Support groups

are designed to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can share common experiences and concerns. Participants come together to provide mutual encouragement, emotional support and an exchange of ideas and coping strategies. It is an ideal environment to confront pain, isolation, guilt and shame and to realize you are not alone in your discomfort.

Group therapy continuously models empathy, creation of boundaries, respect and acceptance and allows individuals to learn healthy interaction and relational skills. The acquired skills often transcend the therapeutic group setting into helping individuals cultivate healthy relationships in other arenas in their life.

Educational groups are designed to assist individuals in broadening their understanding on a specific issue or area of concern. The focus is more instructive and informational, coaching, sound practical biblical instructions and interaction with facilitator and participants. Education groups are not therapy groups.

We offer the following groups, seminars and workshops through the year. Our education groups are typically a 4-10 weeks, meeting once a week for 90 minutes.

Do you love me? Do you love me? Do you love me?

Do you love me? Do you love me? Do you love me?

Have you ever badgered your spouse repeatedly with the question, “Do you love me?” Well I am so guilty of what we commonly referred to as “nagging.” Most men consider a previous affirmation of love to be enough to last a lifetime and subsequent questioning to be annoying. Not so with the ladies. They will ask several times a day. But I wonder if the ladies—myself included—really know the reason why they persist with this question.

Tell Me the Biblical Reasons For Leaving My Spouse

Tell Me the Biblical Reasons For Leaving My Spouse

As I sat in a hair salon recently  the conversation by the chatty and vociferous ladies turned to marriage. On hearing that I was a Marriage Coach, one lady asked, “What are the reasons the Bible gives for leaving my husband?” I paused for a moment, knowing that I needed to give a delicate but wise response. Finally I proposed, “While there certainly are biblical reasons for leaving a spouse there are a whole lot more reasons to stay.” The conversation quietened.
